Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. 

This position is with the Department of Mental Health, Beckman Center for Mental Health Services. This position will be based in Edgefield County and will serve both Edgefield and McCormick County Sheriff's Departments and other law enforcement entities within these two counties.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I (Law Enforcement) position include but are not limited to:
Under limited supervision, provides community-based clinical assessments and therapeutic services for children, adolescents, adults, and families who have interacted with local law enforcement agencies.  This position will service children, adults, and families who have witnessed or experienced violence or trauma and will assess for other mental health needs. This position requires minimal in-state travel and the ability to provide disaster response interventions locally and to deploy statewide when needed.  

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:
A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field. 

Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements:
Two Year's post - master's experience. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
