Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Mid-Level NEPA Planner/Biologist to work based out of our downtown Fort Collins, Colorado. Candidates based in the Denver area will also be considered. The position offers a hybrid in-office schedule.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical expertise to the environmental team on NEPA analyses. 
  • Serve as lead technical biologist on renewable energy, resource management, resource inventories, and Section 7 ESA consultations.
  • Conduct research and write existing condition reports, impact assessments, and management plans. 
  • Develop work plans, maintain schedules, conduct quality control reviews, manage project budgets, and perform other duties as required. 
  • Independently organize, facilitate, and conduct agency meetings and public involvement activities. 
  • Occasional out-of-state travel to visit project sites and attend public outreach events. 


Position Requires:

  • Proven NEPA experience and technical expertise working in environmental compliance related to biological resources, conservation, Section 7 ESA consultation, land use permitting, public land management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Studies, or closely-related field.
  • 5 -7+ years of relevant consulting or agency experience.
  • Experience in wildlife biology, water quality, hydrology, wildfire, botany, ecology, grazing, soils, visual resources, air quality, or closely-related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong writing ability, particularly in topics related to natural resources and NEPA documentation.
  • Be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Consulting experience and established relationships with federal, tribal, state, and local resource and regulatory agencies.
  • Field experience in project area reconnaissance surveys to assess plant and wildlife habitats and species-specific surveys.
  • Certified wetland delineator with experience preparing Section 404 permits.
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Studies, or closely-related field.


Compensation:

This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $72,800 - $104,000 annually, depending on experience and education.
