Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Network Systems, the Network Engineer is responsible for the installation, operations and maintenance of LAN, WAN and WiFi systems for a large, multi-national organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implements and supports firewall/DMZ security infrastructure, including traffic flow troubleshooting, policy analysis and security postures
  • Implements and supports enterprise LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi systems in a large, multi-site environment
  • Implements and supports routing infrastructure using common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, BGP-EVPN, VxLAN Encapsulation)
  • Administers LAN/WAN/VLAN/802.1x, Wi-Fi, VoIP, 802.1X authentication, RADUIS, Tacacs+ IPsec Tunnels and VPN technologies
  • Implements and supports network monitoring systems using technologies like SNMP, NetFlow, and syslog for monitoring and analysis
  • Develops and maintains network automation scripts using Powershell and Ansible to streamline network operations and improve efficiency

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create documentation
  • Occasional travel required

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • 7 + years of experience with routing and switching in a large enterprise environment
  • 7 + years of experience administering a large, multi-site LAN/WAN network
  • 7 + years of experience working with WAN dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • 5 + years of experience administering WiFi networks, Aruba experience preferred
  • 5 + years of experience administering firewalls, Palo Alto experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • TCP/IP networking
    • Network security and firewall administration. Palo Alto / Panorama experience a plus
    • Routing and switching in a large enterprise environment. Arista and Cisco experience a plus
    • Administering a large, multi-site LAN/WAN network, including data centers interconnections (DCI).
    • Dynamic LAN/WAN routing protocols
    • BGP, VXLAN and BGP-EVPN
    • Wi-Fi networking technologies (Controller based deployments)
    • TCP/IP troubleshooting and network traffic analysis using packet capture tools like Wireshark
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Hands-on experience with network automation tools, particularly Ansible
  • Exposure to IaC (Infrastructure as Code) is a plus
