Job Summary
The Network Engineer I provides foundational technical and administrative support for the university’s enterprise network, with a professional emphasis on Layer 1/2 networking technologies within the campus environment. The role also includes exposure to cloud-based routing in platforms such as Azure and AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and support of a high-availability network, focusing on Layer 1 cabling, Layer 2 switching, and VLAN configurations. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, including working with departments via ServiceNow to document and address issues. Support the configuration, management, and maintenance of the university’s wired and wireless infrastructure. Provide technical assistance for network projects, system upgrades, and new installations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless network operations. Assist in the development and maintenance of network documentation, policies, and best practices. Other functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. At least one (1) year of full-time experience working in enterprise-class networks. JNCIA -Junos, JNCIA -Mist AI, JNCIA -Cloud, JNCIA -DevOps, CCNA , etc. certifications. An equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role or any of the qualifications listed above.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Networking, or a related discipline. Certifications: JNCIS - ENT .
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm With an understanding of the 24/7 nature of IT.
