In this position...


The Topic Producer is a key member of the global newsroom team, serving as a crucial link between Subject Experts and other team members. This role requires a broad understanding of assigned topic areas to effectively coordinate content creation, ensure efficient workflow, and contextualize information for optimal communication. The Topic Producer proactively identifies opportunities, pitches ideas, and manages the delivery of high-quality content, fostering collaboration and maintaining consistent messaging across all channels.



Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Idea Generation and Pitching: Proactively pitch new ideas to Subject Experts based on thorough topic knowledge, aiming to contribute as much through idea generation ("offensive coordination") as through execution of Subject Expert-generated ideas. Develop and strengthen communication briefs based on original insights and story mining.Content Production and Coordination: Research, produce, and edit content within assigned topic areas, collaborating with the Creative Management team to optimize processes and outcomes. This includes working with various resources (e.g., video crews, experience planners) as needed.
  • Insight Mining and Communication: Daily monitoring of relevant insights within the assigned topic area, utilizing available tools and communicating key findings to Subject Experts.
  • Project Management and Organization: Maintain organized project tracking (e.g., Trello) for all communications within the assigned topic area, ensuring Subject Experts accurately log external communications, including subject area, communication objectives, target stakeholders, deadlines, and relevant documents. Analyze priorities to inform resource allocation by the Editorial Team.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Host weekly alignment sessions with the Editorial Team, Creative Management team, and Channel/Audience Leads to ensure predictable communication flow. Coordinate timing and deliverables for significant projects (reveals, experiences, content series, campaigns) and provide support for smaller projects as needed, particularly where messaging conflicts or audience overlap might occur.
  • Best Practice Implementation: Identify and implement best practices from other Topic Producers to enhance team efficiency.
  • Subject Expert Support: Provide back-up support for Subject Experts in case of absence (illness, vacation, etc.).
  • Information Hub: Serve as a central point of contact for the Editorial Team and Channel/Audience Leads, addressing questions, coordinating with Subject Experts as necessary, and ensuring timely delivery of final materials to all relevant Communications team members.


Qualifications

You'll have...

  • 5+ years of experience of communications, journalism, content creation
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or similar field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools (e.g., Trello).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Master's degree in Communications or similar field
  • Strong understanding of newsroom operations
  • Experience in content creation and editing

This position has a salary grade range of 5 - 8.
