Key responsibilities: 
    
The London Finance Division is looking for a paralegal to provide support to our professional support consultants (PSCs), covering energy/project finance, real estate finance, acquisition finance, debt capital markets, general bank lending and restructuring and insolvency work. The PSCs (with the help of the paralegal) also support many of the firm's international offices which advise on English law finance work e.g. Paris, Madrid, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as fee earners who are working on secondment with our banking clients.

Responsibilities shall include:

  • Reviewing legal publications and case law on a regular basis, preparing draft summaries;
  • Preparing first drafts of internal publications and briefings and coordinating internal distribution;
  • Assisting fee earners with research questions which may involve liaising internally with fee earners and professional support lawyers across the firm and in our international offices;
  • Assisting fee earners across the Finance division on transactional support in relation to ongoing deals, including proofreading and creating transaction bibles;
  • Organising relevant materials and generally assisting with training sessions;
  • Monitoring legal and market developments, e.g. ESG and Private Capital;
  • Organising and summarising legal know-how materials for uploading onto Libra (the firm’s in-house legal information database) or the Finance internal Gateway site, and generally assisting with the organisation and management of legal know-how materials and market developments relevant to the Finance Division;  
  • Assisting with updating of model form documents, proofreading and occasional drafting;
  • General assistance where required

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Law degree or undergraduate degree (ideally 2.1 or first)
  • Preferably will have successfully completed LPC/BVC/SQE
  • Office administration experience and ideally paralegal work experience
  • IT packages (Word, Outlook, etc.) 
  • Highly competent with legal research
