National, award winning plaintiff litigation firm that represents tens of thousands of clients in personal injury litigation, civil litigation, and mass torts including product liability, dangerous drugs and defective medical products is seeking a Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to join their Team.  Successful candidates for the position must be bilingual in Spanish.

 Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ personal injury litigation experience, Bachelor or Associate degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.  Experience with mass torts including products liability and personal injuries is a plus.  The Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for legal document preparation, document review, legal research, creating and maintaining pleadings, motions, and other case filings (state and federal). The Paralegal will also assist the attorneys in trial preparation, client communications, and other related work.  This is an onsite full-time role based out of the firm's Houston, TX office location.

 Duties include:

  • Assist attorneys and support staff with managing cases.
  • Prepare, draft, file, and serve pleadings and discovery in state and federal court cases.
  • Correspond with clients, courts, and other counsel via telephone, email, letter.
  • Manage court filing correspondence for cases and handle the saving and calendaring of the corresponding filed documents.
  • Typing, filing, scanning, copying, setup client files, answer incoming department calls.
  • Schedule attorney court appearances, depositions, mediation, counsel meetings, and telephone conferences.
  • Maintain files, log telephone conversations, log time tracking in a case, and perform legal research.
  • Organize and maintain electronic case files within the company software/case management system.
  • Facilitate and manage settlement process from first steps of enrolling client(s) to payment.
  • Responsible for gathering client documents and organizing electronic and physical files.
  • Provide administrative assistance to attorneys, including managing calendars and deadlines.
  • Notarize client or attorney documents, as necessary.
  • Maintain case expenses, invoices, billing, and time worked on client and general files.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trial.
  • Prepare trial and deposition binders to assist attorneys.
  • Handling of special projects for attorneys and staff.
  • Interact daily with assigned clientele and Potential New Clients (PNC) to understand their needs and ensure the timely management of their cases.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of personal injury litigation experience, Bachelor or Associate degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish
  • Must be a Notary Public, State of Texas
  • Must be able to perform well in a high level, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, good time management skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver timely results
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor toward clients and staff
  • Must be honest, committed, detail oriented, team-player, positive, energetic, kind, well-spoken, and have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be ambitious and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and work
  • Must have a “can do” attitude, work very cooperatively with legal and non-legal staff
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Must demonstrate good ethics, judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Regular attendance and availability during normal business hours are required. (8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collegial office environment
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
