Shift/Hours/Location: M-F, 8am-5pm, Onsite, Moses Lake, WA
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON
- Testing and Evaluation.
- Assist in formulating test plans for projects and execute experiments.
- Make detailed test plans based on manager’s direction and/or the customer’s request.
- Conduct physical and chemical property testing of materials and products to gather sets of data under various conditions.
- Evaluate performance to ensure expected models/theories and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Lead and teach junior workers to conduct appropriate experiments.
- Follow written procedures for laboratory experiments and analysis.
- Communicate & Interact well within the group/department.
- Collaborate well with other groups/departments as needed.
- Data Management:
- Utilize data management systems to record and analyze experimental results.
- Summarize raw data sets into another files (Excel, JMP etc.) for easy understanding of experimental results.
- Ensure data integrity and accessibility.
- Search and review literature and websites to obtain necessary theories and methods for the R&D works.
- Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations of research findings for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of specific processes, lab equipment and instruments.
- Critically evaluate procedures and identify potential issues/inconsistencies.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with scientific literature and industry trends to identify new methodologies and technologies that could enhance R&D efforts.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments; troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Perform or request annual Preventative Maintenance.
- Support domestic and international customers, including domestic and international travel to customer sites.
- Uphold all MLI policies and “MLI Code of Conduct.”
- Adhere to safety protocols and laboratory practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strict compliance with Environmental and Safety regulations.
- Take on additional duties - Lab Safety Officer, Rep. to Safety Council.
- Compliance and individual accountability with the MLI Quality System and ISO Registration is required. It is the employee’s commitment to ensure that the Company’s actual practices and procedures are exercised as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support and sustain a high performing team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline such as biology or physics required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in an industrial or academic setting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the demonstrated ability to read and implement written work procedures such as MLI Standard Operating Procedures and published standard methods such as American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) methods, and chemical literature with minimal direct supervision.
- Working knowledge of computers and MS Office software.
- Working knowledge of arithmetic and grammar.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Read, understand apply information in Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals and laboratory apparatus.
- Follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in order to meet established deadlines.
- Work as a team and/or independently.
- Perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is highly preferred.
- Experience in electrochemistry, organic chemistry, organic synthesis, and/or analytical chemistry is preferred.

Summary pay range: $28.85/hour-$38.46/hour

WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are generally performed indoors in an office/lab and high purity manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee may work in the presence of fumes or airborne particles, hot, toxic, or corrosive chemicals, water, liquids, and electrical equipment. When working in the presence of safety hazards, the employee is expected to follow company safety rules and use proper personal protective equipment such as: respirator, hardhat, protective clothing, safety glasses, safety footwear, and full leather shoes, etc.
