LACO’s team of engineers, surveyors, planners, and grant writers works with public-, private-, and tribal-sector clients to support land development, environmental restoration, environmental compliance, and program implementation. LACO is looking for a full time Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in the Chico office. This position will be responsible for creating, improving, and protecting our immediate environment. In this position, the individual plans and oversees construction and rebuilding, as well as the maintenance of water and wastewater systems, roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, dams, harbors, power plants, and airports. The Senior Civil Engineer should be a critical thinker and have a sound subject knowledge of mathematics and physics to identify and solve engineering problems. This individual must possess a certain level of creativity to present innovative solutions and improvements to technical processes. The Senior Civil Engineer can effectively lead their team, communicate ideas, make recommendations, and negotiate project details with their team, subcontractors, and clients.
 
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A 10 or more years of civil engineering experience.
  • General experience and knowledge of how Auto CAD and Civil 3D function.
  • Strong team management and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and designs.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or another related field.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE). 
  • Travel may be required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assess projects and requirements
  • Develop detailed designs based on project requirements
  • Feasibility assessments and site inspections
  • Assess the impact and feasibility of site due diligence, preliminary layout, and up to the final engineering design
  • Study and assess drawings, plans, specifications, and other documents related to construction projects
  • Determine budget, project schedules, scope of work, and deploy appropriate resources and staff to projects
  • Direct, lead, and support other engineering and skilled personnel in managing and executing multiple tasks and projects
  • Collaborate and interact with construction teams, architects, and outside project developers and consultants
  • Provides recommendations on presenting alternative solutions to problems
  • Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors
  • Manage deliverables on time and within budget
  • Initiate and ensure standard civil engineering discipline in drawings and plans including geotechnical, wind, and hydrology analyses
  • Adhere to the best practices, standards, and procedures of the company and licensure
