Are you an experienced paralegal with 2–3 years of practical employment law experience, looking for an in-house opportunity?

Based out of one of our key city offices, you will play a crucial role in preparing cases for tribunal hearings while ensuring the smooth running of our legal services.

Must have - CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ), GDL, or LLB (or equivalent).

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Monitor the legal inbox daily, forwarding correspondence to the Employment Lawyer and updating electronic files.
  • Assess claims for jurisdictional issues, compliance with ACAS Certificates, and ensure correct respondent information.
  • Assist in conducting an initial assessment of case merits and provide concise summaries.
  • Gather and organize relevant documents from HR for claims responses.
  • Upload, date, and categorize case documents to the electronic file system.
  • Produce a detailed chronology of events based on legal and factual issues for Grounds of Resistance submissions.
  • Draft basic tribunal applications (e.g., timetable adjustments, witness availability), and assist with complex applications (e.g., strike-out/deposit orders).
  • Support in drafting witness statements and managing the disclosure process.
  • Prepare and collate bundles for hearings, ensuring all materials are ready for submission.
  • Diarise tribunal hearing dates and key deadlines, ensuring compliance with orders.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of tribunal cases with the Employment Lawyer to determine next steps and compliance actions.
  • Provide employment law research support as needed.
  • Liaise with counsel and legal chambers, providing briefs to counsel when required.
  • Prepare a monthly report on tribunal cases and employment law statistics for internal stakeholders.
  • Attend tribunal and appeal hearings to take notes and provide case summaries.

What You'll Need:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize caseloads.
  • Independence and confidence in managing cases appropriate to your level of expertise.
  • Sharp attention to detail, especially when preparing legal bundles and updating systems.
  • A solid understanding of legal and factual issues in employment cases.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess cases and anticipate next steps.
  • Proficiency in legal research and the ability to apply legal principles practically.


  • Proven knowledge of employment law and its practical application (minimum 2 years PQE).
  • Experience managing employment law cases, including unlawful wage deductions, unfair dismissal, and discrimination.
  • Familiarity with Tribunal processes and case management procedures.
  • Experience drafting claims, witness statements, and handling electronic case management systems.
  • Ideally, experience in a commercial legal team, working with autonomy.

Qualifications:
