This position requires experience with database design management and code development in RPG and programming on the IBM (Iseries, AS/400). (please make sure it is reflected on resume)


Objective

Under general guidance, plans, designs and implements complex to highly complex new or enhanced data processing systems in support of business requirements. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Evaluate current system workflow processes and identify areas for improved automation to increase efficiencies and improve the external and internal customer experience.
  2. Assist the Sr. Manager, IT Applications in managing and leading outsourced development resources for development of IBM iSeries/ERP database structures and programs.
  3. Manage, architect, and design programming for our main systems that interact with external 3rd party systems such as EPCIS serialization and Laser etching systems.
  4. Lead, design, and recommend programming designs to establish the best approach in terms of gained efficiencies, system architecture, and cost.
  5. Manage and monitor data integrations that integrate data from iSeries and between various applications.
  6. Improve the data architecture of source data for use in reporting through target database design and program development to gain efficiencies and improved data transformation.
  7. Confers with user departments to identify computerization needs and determine how the desired results can be achieved.  Analyze existing systems and programs and develop or recommends new systems or modifications to existing systems. 
  8. Reviews and analyzes system specifications to determine whether all required elements have been included.  Consults with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements. 
  9. Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. 
  10. Uses programming languages to code computer instructions from the systems documentation. Utilizes various special programming techniques necessary to achieve the most effective program. 
  11. Tests and debugs computer programs. 
  12. Modifies existing programs to conform to system changes or to make improvements in the existing program.
  13. Advises and works with user departments to resolve specific problems or make changes in programs, computer applications, capabilities, alternative programming approaches, limitations, etc. 
  14. Trains personnel in user departments in any specific procedures necessary to enter data into terminals for computer processing. 
  15. Writes and maintains technical documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections. 
  16. Monitors performance of programs after implementation and provides user training and follow up support.

Education and/or Experience 

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university in Computer Science or related field with five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

 

Computer Skills

Ability to work with data processing, programming, systems design, problem analysis, and hardware.

Experience with database design management and code development in RPG.

Experience programming on the IBM (Iseries, AS/400)

Experience in securing access to IBMi through security protocols

Knowledge of SQL Server Administration and programming (stored procedures, triggers and views.)

Preferred experience in Python, JSON, XML, Rest API

Preferred experience in ERP Infor LX, BPICs

Knowledge of medical device manufacturing or related field.

Ability to be recognized as a technical expert in company systems.

Ability to establish and maintain moderately complex documentation systems.

Ability to function in a controlled environment regulated by FDA GMPs and handle confidential data.

Ability to use MSWord, Excel, and various office machines such as personal computer, FAX, copier, and telephone.

The posted range for this position is $85,000-$145,000 annually which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including education, prior experience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
