Structural Designer II - MO

- Structural Designer II is responsible to develop Revit models and prepare construction drawings as part of a multidiscipline team in St. Louis, Tucson, Atlanta, GA, and Mumbai offices.
- Conducts on-site data collection.
- Correctly applies company drafting standards. Performs collision detections.
- Maintains material takeoff schedules and provides to lead engineer when required.
- Provides mentoring to less experienced designers.
REQUIREMENTS & DUTIES:
- Builds 3D models for steel and concrete structures, foundations, masonry buildings, process ductwork, concrete silos and bunkers, and steel bins and hoppers. Creates and annotates construction drawings under direction of assigned engineer.
- Works on multiple models and projects, concurrently.
- Travels to site to collect information needed for design.
- In absence of existing drawings, uses laser scans to model existing structure.
- Uses general arrangement drawings, existing structure information, and equipment drawings in coordination with engineer's input to develop model and create preliminary structural drawings according to engineer's direction.
- Reviews model and drawings with engineer once a week at a minimum. Incorporates all red marks from engineer's review.
- Provides fully dimensioned drawings adequate for shop detailing and field construction.
- Prepares all equipment connection details on the drawings, ensuring proper fit, support, bolt hole positions, etc. are provided.
- Identifies details not covered by company standard drawings and works with engineer to provide required details on the design drawings.
- Incorporates into the drawings all steel member sizes, concrete dimensions, rebar requirements, and design forces provided by the engineer.
- Checks models against other disciplines' models to check for proper coordination.
- Addresses items identified in Navisworks collision detections.
- Runs Navisworks collision detections.
- Works with engineer to resolve any interference or inter-discipline coordination issues.
- Provides material takeoff quantities by maintaining schedules in REVIT. Verifies schedules are functioning properly.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Hiring Companies ATS Questions):
1. Do you have 5+ years with steel and concrete structures.
2. Do you have Software Proficiency: Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
3. Do you have Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with codes (IBC, OSHA, AISC, ACI).
4. Do you have the ability to develop 3D models and create detailed construction drawings.
5. Do you have experience coordinating with engineers and other disciplines.
