SUN Certified Instructor


The Schools Uniting Neighborhood (SUN) Certified Instructor for SEI is responsible for the instruction and supervision of students within our Community Schools that shall include individual skill development, expansion of knowledge and increase academic achievement. Supervision of students shall include guidance, development and safety.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


Identifies the needs of a group of students as well as individual students and provides for assessment of their abilities in academic core subjects and/or grade level readiness.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and performance goals in accordance with methods prescribed by the supervisor.

Evaluates the students’ academic progress and maintains appropriate records.

Provides instruction, organization and management in the classroom that creates an environment conducive to learning.

Consults with individual teachers and/or teams to provide assessment, instructional and/or curriculum support in the areas of literacy and math.

Establishes, maintains and supports standards of personal conduct and discipline in accordance with the discipline policies and regulations of SEI and the school communities.

Supervises students both in and out of the classroom.

Builds and maintains positive working relationships with SEI staff, students and their families.

Adheres to SEI standards and policies.


Qualifications

Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Highly Qualified (Current license and endorsed in subject area) in required subject matter.

Enthusiasm for working with youth of various social, education and economic levels.

Experience preferable at the grade level of the position you are seeking.

Must have proven expertise, knowledge and skills in the related subject matter.

Effective classroom management skills.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

Ability to garner students’ interest and accountability regarding classroom participation and expectation.
