Summary: Provides support and manpower to Recovery Support Center by performing a variety of tasks ranging from helping organize events to facilitating presentations, to working one-on-one with members and developing programming. Assists with marketing program to the community and help recruits volunteers. Be the face of the Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to all aspects of Center operation from designing and implementing Center programming, policies and procedure, member handbook and volunteer handbook.
  • Works with Resource Development Department to manage program web and social media presence. Designs templates and visual interfaces for written materials in line with agreed upon development themes and concepts. Updates web site with new activities, employee changes, calendar updates, new events, and announcements.
  • Performs outreach to secure and engage volunteers for all RSC volunteer activities, including library, kitchen, resources events, and computer room.
  • Support and oversee all member and volunteers related communication, marketing materials and recognition activities.
  • Assist in managing the volunteer application process with SMOC Human Resources, communication of candidate rejections and approvals, and maintains up-to-date spreadsheet for tracking interns and volunteers.
  • Responsible for ensuring prompt preparation and mailings.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of current and new fundraising events and cultivation events in conjunction with Resource Development Department.
  • Implement new ways to use technology to increase Center offerings.
  • Engages all members by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of the specialty.
  • Attends team meetings and communicates effectively with members and staff in other specialty areas.
  • Ensures compliance with department, agency and/or funder requirements, and SMOC policies & procedures.
  • Ensure date collection is current and up to date. Registering new members in virtual gateway.
  • Peer participation assistant, including groups, activities and programming. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Must be able to work independently with supervision.
  • Good people skills
  • Strong computer skills are desirable.
  • Must be available to work varied hours.

 

Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Program Director. Direct reports are None.

Physical Requirement: Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting. Must be able to participate in various volunteer events in the community that may require walking, waiting on client needs and the like.

Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Volunteer Coordinator will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.  A successful background check is required.
