Description

We are looking for volunteer qualified counsellors to provide counselling support to individuals impacted by terminal illness.


 


What we need you to do:


Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:


• Provide counselling sessions for in-patients, outpatients and bereaved loved ones.  


• Identify when the level of support may be beyond the scope of counselling and that other professional help may be needed.


• To be supervised by a qualified external supervisor.


• Provide statistical records on a weekly basis to the hospice administration team.


• To follow Marie Curie policies, standards, and procedures.


•To attend monthly managerial supervision meetings at the Marie Curie Hospice


 


What skills or experience do you need?


• Diploma in Counselling from a recognised body.


• The ability to work sensitively with people facing or experiencing loss.


• To be emotionally balanced and self-aware.


• To keep up to date with professional developments in counselling and Marie Curie policies and procedures.


• An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the actions required when working with people who may be at risk to themselves or others.

What we ask of you:


• To provide two references from non-family members.


• To provide all relevant documents related to the role (this role will require an enhanced disclosure check).
