Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for preparing and participating in maintaining a complete set of financial records. Participates in and may oversee processing complex accounting transactions, preparing adjustments to sub-ledgers and ledgers, and oversees and performs reconciliation, reporting, and auditing of general ledger financial information. This position is primarily responsible for processing payroll in accordance with State and Federal Laws on a bi-weekly basis for CCAA’s employees. Payroll also includes all reporting and maintaining files relating to quarterly reports, retirement, and various other duties. This position reports to the Director of Finance.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs data entry to process the bi-weekly payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and other accounting items; reconciles and checks documents for insurance providers such as BC/BC, Guardian, PEBA; balances payroll general Ledger, prepares commission reports and processes TSA invoices and Parking Deposits; researches, analyzes, troubleshoot and resolves issues relating to payroll, timekeeping and benefits; communicates with Human Resources to minimize and mitigate payroll and benefit concerns; and creates and distributes instruction materials related to Payroll and Accounting.
  • Maintains a complete set of records of financial transactions by overseeing, reviewing, and entering transaction details into an established financial accounting system. Classifies, codes, and consolidates charges, rates, and related financial information to an accounting system.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries as needed for payroll and other types of transactions and adjustments.  
  • Reconciles a variety of accounts such as but not limited to cash, liability accounts, salary accounts and reimbursements due to the general ledger. Reconcile financial information on a as needed basis for all functions in the Finance Department.
  • Ensures that revenues (rent, advertising, % over mag, Customer Service credit cards, and manual credit cards) are recorded monthly utilizing accounting software package. 
  • Maintains charts of accounts and other fiscal information, files, and records relating to Payroll and other tasks assigned. 
  • Develops expertise in automated accounting and general ledger systems including data reporting applications and special provisions including Paylocity and NetSuites software. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Prepares reports and financial schedules for external agencies, comply with generally accepted government accounting principles, Federal, State, and local regulations and requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Prepares accounts summaries, and other accounts that contribute to a complete accounting of the activity of the organization unit.
  • Assists in identifying and participates in maintaining sound internal accounting controls. Applies pre-established accounting controls, fund accounts and special accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles. Remains current on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) compliance issues. Reviews and analyzes accounting transactions processed by others for accuracy, proper account coding or classification and allocation.
  • Communicates with, Airport Authority officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains computer hardware and software, copiers, telephone, fax/copier and related office type equipment and supplies; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
  • Reviews the monthly investment statements, prepares and enters the monthly journal entries into the accounting software. 
  • Researches and help prepare responses to FOIA requests as needed. Assist Director of Finance with any other special projects as requested.


Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in accounting.
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Specific License or Certification Required:

  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
