Our Head Office is recruiting for an Accountant to join our Finance team in Saint John, NB or Halifax, NS. We are a CPA pre-approved program training office, with a robust support program to enable candidate success as they work towards their designation. This is a great opportunity for an individual working towards or planning to pursue their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

 

Reporting to the Team Lead - Accounting, the responsibilities of the Accountant will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Supports full cycle accounting, recording, reporting, and reconciliation of financial activities ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data 
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliation(s), assists in the reconciliation of accounts related to payables, receivables, expenses, and capital assets to ensure accuracy
  • Manage the company’s corporate credit cards and employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Performs various financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting
  • Assists the Accounts Payable Administrator in responding to queries relating to the processing and payment of vendor invoicing
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure that expenses are appropriately captured and classified, and provide support as needed for financial inquiries
  • Assists with the preparation of supporting documentation for financial audits and reporting
  • Suggests and supports improvements to processes that enhance efficiency and accuracy in managing accounts payable, credit cards, and expense reporting
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Recently completed, working towards, or a desire to, pursue an accounting designation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with mid-market or top-tier ERP systems is ideal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Highly organized, adaptable to change, and eager to learn
