Role overview
We are recruiting a paralegal to support and work within the London Legal team reporting into the Head of Legal UK and Co Head of EMEA. The successful candidate will be required to actively assist in all areas of the firm’s business, including the on-boarding of new institutional clients, the corporate governance of the UK and European group and working closely with Compliance on reviewing and implementing legislation. The members of AllianceBernstein’s broader Legal and Compliance department work on a collaborative basis across the globe and accordingly, the candidate will also work with other members of the department based in London, Nashville, Luxembourg and elsewhere.
Qualifications required:
Preferably one of the following:
- Undergraduate LLB law degree or a non law degree and the PGDL
- Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
- National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP)
Skills/ Experience required:
- Ability to multi-task, trouble-shoot, and work well with multiple departments/sources of information to resolve complex issues within a tight framework;
- General knowledge of company/commercial law, with some knowledge of financial services law and regulation preferable;
- Experience with a Document Management System;
- IT literate with a good knowledge and high degree of competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

- Strong interpersonal skills, as the position involves extensive daily contact with staff members in the Legal and other departments;
- Proactiveness, with an ability to take initiative, anticipate needs and address challenges before they arise; and
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately, both orally and in writing.
Key responsibilities:
- Typing, generating, amending and printing Word, Excel and other documents for the Legal team as required;
- Scanning, filing and re-naming documents into the Document Management System (work site) and general maintenance thereof;
- Arranging Board packs including collating materials from different business units, drafting of agenda, circulating materials to directors and uploading materials to Diligent;
- Drafting Board written resolutions and collating responses and filing the same within the DMS;
- Assisting with diary management/set-up of meetings and other general administrative duties;
- Undertaking Companies House filings and maintaining company books;
- Assisting in the execution of documents via DocuSign;
- Assisting in the preparation of Investment Management Agreements and letter amendments;
- Re-naming and filing of Client and internal documents;
- Managing and processing invoices;
- Assisting with the on-boarding process of new UK and European clients;
- Co-ordinating the quarterly external legal spend accruals for the UK Legal Team; and
- Providing general support to the Legal team as required.
