Guggenheim Partners is seeking a smart, energetic, and affable person to join its Legal team. Reporting to the Senior Paralegal in the Legal Operations and Support, Guggenheim Investments group, this person will join a highly collaborative team and will be responsible for supporting various attorneys and functions in the Guggenheim Investments legal group. In addition to meticulous organizational skills and a high attention to detail, the ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to proactively manage and track various projects both independently and as part of a team, take ownership and responsibility over assignments, assume leadership roles where appropriate, and work on a variety of time-sensitive projects.
The successful candidate must be proactive, exercise excellent judgment, have exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage stakeholders across the firm and exhibit professionalism. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with senior-level attorneys and be highly responsive and efficient. An ideal candidate will have experience drafting governance documents and/or forming legal entities as a paralegal or similar in the financial services industry, however, in lieu of specific experience, bright, resourceful, quick learners will be considered. The Paralegal role presents an opportunity to grow in a dynamic organization and department. The Paralegal role is in New York, currently 3-4 days in office and the remaining days remote.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documents & materials for management of Fund entities, including governance, transactional, regulatory, and other legal matters.
• Maintain various databases relating to directors and officers and entity data.
• Prepare board resolutions, written consents, corporate certificates, incumbency certificates and related documents.
• Work closely with the GI Legal Transactions team, supporting their daily operations and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Review various contracts such as Access Letters or basic vendor contracts.
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations, Excel worksheets and Visio diagrams, in particular organizational charts.
• Participate in and take the lead on special and recurring projects, including document review and overhaul of file and data storage systems.
• Track long term projects in an efficient manner and report progress to management.
• Routinely handle confidential information and apply strict sensitivity in the dissemination of this information with quick turnaround.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with certain internal policies and procedures.
• Perform ad hoc job-related duties and projects as assigned.
• Process legal invoices.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
• Strict attention to detail; accurate and organized while able to prioritize appropriately.
• Ability to multitask with a high reading level comprehension.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead projects, including delegating and overseeing tasks appropriately.
• Ability to effectively and maturely communicate and collaborate with diverse personalities in all levels of management, as well as with outside vendors and clients.
• Excellent team player; collaborative, energized by the open exchange of ideas, also able to work independently as needed.
• Ability to learn new software quickly with little external guidance – can “self-teach.”
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 1-5 years of experience as a paralegal, experience with the financial services sector or corporate internal legal department a plus.
• Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Annual base salary between $72,000 to $80,000.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
