Job Description

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

• Review weekly and bi-weekly electronic time card records for errors.
• Works with supervisors and program managers to resolve time card issues.
• Input payroll information for new hires into the payroll system, including W-4 information, certain deductions and direct deposit information.
• Compiles computes and inputs payroll data into the payroll system.
• Reviews payroll preview reports, such as unused deduction report and employees not paid report, to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the payroll being processed.
• Makes required changes to employee information in the system, as requested, such as change of address and withholdings.
• Assists in year-end activities, such as processing and reviewing changes in benefits enrollments, within the payroll module of the system.
• Payroll team members regarding benefits administration, government compliance reporting and filings, and special projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s degree or Minimum/General Experience:  2-5 years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge of accounting theories, account reconciliation, and financial analysis may be substituted for degree. 

• 2+ years of Payroll experience.
• Knowledge of Deltek or Costpoint Payroll software is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have general math skills.
• Resourceful, organized and detail oriented.

Software Applications:  Proficient of Microsoft Excel and Word.
