Description
The Probation Officer, under supervision of the Court Administrator, performs a variety of clerical, technical, and administrative tasks to facilitate the efficient, effective operations of the Municipal Court Probation Program.
Requirements
Associate’s degree in related field required
Minimum of three years’ experience in criminal justice, social programs or legal-related procedures required
Must be bondable
Ability to support an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment
Knowledge of legal language and procedures related to municipal court operations and probation functions
Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal laws, codes and regulations
Working knowledge with criminal history reporting and Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) and REJIS systems
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with members of the public as needed
Considerable knowledge of the principles of business letter writing, English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation, principles and practices of filing and legal file systems, principles and procedures of record keeping
Ability to maintain accurate records and enter data accurately
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
Ability to interview defendants and make objective analysis and sound recommendations
